Half way in Ohio: Bill passes House to extend protections for gender and sexual orientation issues; heads to Senate

”With today’s historic vote, we are one step closer to ensuring that Ohioans will not be fired or kicked out of their homes just because of who they are or who they love.”

Chris Redfern, Ohio’s Democratic Party Chairman, referring to the passage of HB 176 in the Ohio House of Representatives. The bill, which is designed to add “sexual orientation and gender identity” to a number of protections afforded to other minority groups, is headed to the Ohio State Senate where it may face a tougher challenge.
