”Saddam playing with boys would have no resonance in the Middle East — nobody cares… Trying to mount such a campaign would show a total misunderstanding of the target. We always mistake our own taboos as universal when, in fact, they are just our taboos.”
One of three unnamed members of the ”CIA’s Iraq Operations Group” as quoted by Jeff Stein of the Washington Post’s SpyTalk blog. Stein claims these men sat through idea-making sessions that included faking a videotape of Saddam Hussein ”having sex with a teenage boy.” And states that the ”agency actually did make a video purporting to show Osama bin Laden and his cronies sitting around a campfire swigging bottles of liquor and savoring their conquests with boys.” Stein says they do speak of unintended side effects of these types of propaganda wars. A Wired magazine post about this report reminds us of the other homo-related tactics used in the war, like the photos of ”nude human pyramids.” (Washington Post)
