“Lesbian” mice created in South Korea through genetic alteration

”The mutant female mouse underwent a slightly altered developmental programme in the brain to resemble the male brain in terms of sexual preference.”

Chankyu Park. a professor from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, who says a genetic alteration to mice has resulted in the females refusing to be mounted by males, and prefering to mount other females instead. (Telegraph.co.uk)

”The FucM knockout mice displayed drastically reduced sexual receptivity, although pregnancy after forced mating attempts by normal sexually experienced males showed that the animals were fertile. The FucM knock-out mice have reduced levels of alpha-fetoprotein, a protein thought to be involved in development of parts of the brain responsible for reproductive behaviour.”

More from Chankyu Park about his experiment to alter the genetic code of mice which has resulted in a same-sex preference, he claims. (Sify.com)
