”This is a story about homosexual conduct…. ‘Sir, Sergeants Hall and Johnson came to see me. They apparently witnessed a homosexual act involving PFC Howard and a soldier from an other unit….”
”Ma’am I have been talking to Chaplain Ayers over the past few weeks and I think that I may be homosexual….”
”Hey, Gates, would you enjoy a date with a good looking man, too?….”
Outtakes from a curious comic book posted online called ”Dignity and Respect” which is available for viewing at a site that features “Comics with Problems.” Chapters in the comic are titled “Conduct,” “Admission” and “Harassment,” and the point is to literally illustrate the actions soldiers and their superiors must take regarding any type of “homosexual conduct” as it relates to “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” (Comics with Problems)
The comic is dated “1 May 2001.” The site that posted this gem does mention “some speculation as to the authenticity,” but the humorless nature and dry dialog does sound quite a lot like the type of document one would expect the government to create. BoingBoing.net and Rachel Maddow have highlighted the “discovery” of this magazine which says it is ”designed to help you understand the Army’s Homosexual Conduct Policy and the rights of soldiers and actions of the commander under this policy.”
