”For the past four months the juvenile has not only faced the false accusations made by Cheyenne Williams, but also the judgment of all those individuals who heard the allegations and presumed the juvenile to be guilty…. We are thankful that the criminal justice system still works, and that the truth has come out.”
Sharon K. Allen Gay an attorney for one of three girls accused of attacking their lesbian classmate back in April a “national day of silence.” Police brought forth accusations that the unnamed defendant had attacked Cheyenne Williams, an 18-year-old lesbian, with the help of two other girls. The girls allegedly hit her with sticks and tried to push Williams off a cliff. And it is reported that Williams recorded part of the incident on her cell phone. Those familiar with the video say that Williams laughed in the video. That evidence in-part has led to the judge dismissing the charges against the girl (who was a 17-year-old juvenile at the time). The three girls on trial say that Williams is lying about being attacked. They claim it was staged for a video, but for what purpose is not clear. (Lexington-Herald Ledger)
