Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss apologies to gay blogger at JoeMyGod; fires rogue staffer

”Joe, I don’t know if you’re Republican or Democrat, liberal or conservative, but none of that should matter. Because what was said on your blog by someone from my office is just not acceptable, no matter who is saying it and who it’s being said to. I just want to offer my sincerest apologies.”

Saxby Chambliss, US Senator from Georgia, as quoted by Joe “JoeMyGod.com” Jervis. It was discovered a couple of weeks ago by the blogger that someone in Chambliss’ office had posted a comment reading, “all faggots must die.” Chambliss says the delay in identifying and was out of caution for the investigative results from the Senate Sergeant at Arms. The staff member thus far has not been identified, but Chambliss claims that he or she has been let go. (JoeMyGod

”All this is from our perspective is ignorant free speech… There’s not a specific rule that says you cannot send an ignorant message — although there is a rule that says computers are to be used only for government business. And this was not government business.”

Despite his public and personal apologies regarding this incident, Chambliss still has a record of not supporting gay rights legislation and of voting for legislation meant to oppress gay families. He voted for a Constitutional ban on same-sex marriages and also to ban adoption by gays people in the District of Columbia. (HRC) (OnTheIssues)
