XXL asks New Yorkers what they think of the Lil B ‘I’m Gay’ album title [video]

Hip-hop magazine XXL took to the streets of NYC to ask people what they thought of artist Lil B titling his next album, “I’m Gay.” Most of the reactions were indifferent to positive, but one gay man said he was disgusted at the use of the label “gay” by a straight rapper. Others said they wouldn’t listen to it, then said it would depend on the music.

Lil B (aka Brandon McCartney) said in April that he wanted to boldly prove that words don’t mean anything, that his use of the term “gay” meant he was happy. A week later, he reported that he’d received threats online, but that he would not stop pushing for human rights.
