Bullied gay teen, Jamie Hubley, blogged a painful goodbye before suicide
”[Jamie] was the kind of boy that loved everybody…. He couldn’t understand why everyone would be so cruel to him about something as simple as skating…. Why do people have to be cruel to our children when all they want to do is be loved?”
Allan Hubley, father of Jamie Hubley, a gay teen who reportedly took his own life this past Friday. CBC News spoke with Jamie’s father who said his son was bullied from elementary through high school in Ottawa, Canada. Allan Hubley tearfully told a reporter by phone about the loss of his son, a talented figure skater with a emerging interest in performing and singing. He said that his son had come out to both of his parents in 9th grade as either homosexual or bisexual. He added that Jamie’s school and guidance counselor were very good with him. CBC reports that the 15-year-old was taking medication for depression at the time. (CBC.ca)
A Tumblr blog called “You can’t break… When you’re already broken” is attributed to Jamie, and in the page’s description he says: “I’m not really anything special, just depressed, I wish I could be happy, I try, I try, I try… I just want to feel special to someone. Im gay?! :D”
Four days ago, under a post called, “Im a casualty of love,” he said his goodbyes to friends. In remarks eerily similar to those of 14-year-old Jamie Roddemeyer, Hubley mentioned his favorite singers which included Lady Gaga, and he even made a reference to the “It Gets Better” Project:
“Well, Im tired of life really. Its so hard, Im sorry, I cant take it anymore. …
“Being sad is sad : /. I’v been like this for way to long. I cant stand school, I cant stand earth, I cant stand society, I cant stand the scars on my arms, I cant fucking stand any fucking thing.
“I dont want my parents to think this is their fault either… I love my mom and dad : ) Its just too hard. I dont want to wait 3 more years, this hurts too much. How do you even know It will get better? Its not. …
“(well You know who you are, But to the people who didnt like me (many) A big fuck you, Go ride a unicorn. But w/e I love you anyway.)
“Remember me as a Unicorn :3 x) MAybe in my next life Il be a flying squirreel :D

More than 1,000 people left replies to his final post. During his final days, Jamie also posted about an urge to cut himself followed by visuals of troubled teens who were being bullied. He expressed emotions of anger, loneliness and isolation, along with thoughts of suicide — “One day, I hope I will actually want to live.” (catchmeblondly.tumblr.com).
