QuakeCon 2012: America’s largest LAN party, courtesy of AT&T
id Software and Bethesda Softworks have announced that AT&T is the official sponsor for this year’s QuakeCon, mirroring a similar deal for last year’s event. QuakeCon 2012 is America’s largest bring-your-own-computer LAN party and gaming festival, and has been keeping enthusiasts of id Software’s products entertained since 1996. This year’s event is expected to draw 3,000 attendees, all enticed by contests, cash prizes, games exhibits, hardware demonstrations and “non-stop entertainment, parties and events”.
At&T is on-board to ensure that the LAN party side of things runs as smoothly as possible — and possibly score a few more subscribers to its U-verse internet service. U-verse is powering the event, with the aim of providing the best possible networked experience for attendees and increasing the number of live and on-demand video streams for global fans who are unable to attend.
QuakeCon is returning to the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas, and will run August 2nd to 5th. Entry is free, and attendees can pre-register now. For more information about QuakeCon, visit the official website.
