Mike Daisey brings a revamped Steve Jobs to Woolly Mammoth

Mike daisey

Earlier this year a storm erupted in the theater and media worlds when it was exposed that Mike Daisey had either exaggerated or flat-out fabricated some details in his scathing monologue about computer giant Apple, The Agony and Ecstasy of Steve Jobs, nurtured at Woolly Mammoth. Woolly is presenting a remount of the popular show, excised of contested material and addressing the controversy head on. It’ll be interesting to see how Daisey has adapted it in the wake of the storm, since last time around some of the most powerful aspects were the same anecdotes and quotes he may have made up. Still, as Doug Rule wrote in a review of the 2011 original, “what Mike Daisey has to say about the devastation our technology rat race has wrought” is something “any user of modern technology should…see.” To Aug. 5. Woolly Mammoth, 641 D St. NW. Call 202-393-3939 or visit woollymammoth.net.
