Drink up and save with Turkish Airlines
Turkish Airlines is spreading a little extra Valentine’s Day love to residents of the Washington area this year.
Beginning today and continuing through Feb. 17, you can indulge in rich Turkish coffee, courtesy of the airline that has joined the food-truck frenzy. As part of a special campaign, a coffee truck piloted by uniformed Turkish Airlines flight attendants will tour the nation’s capital for two weeks – visiting some of the city’s most popular high-traffic areas.

- Saturday, Feb. 9 – 3285 M St. NW, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Sunday, Feb. 10 – Chinese New Year Parade in Chinatown, from 1 to 3:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, Feb. 12 – 908 17th St. NW, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Thursday, Feb. 14 – 707 7th St. NW, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Feb. 16 – 507 8th St. SE, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Sunday, Feb. 17 – 3285 M St. NW, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
In addition to the free brew, Turkish Airlines is also offering several promotional fares from Dulles International Airport to Istanbul and other destinations, including Venice, Italy; Prague; Budapest,Hungary; Athens, Greece; and the Maldives. Discounted fares start at $399 per person, roundtrip, all-inclusive, for travel through Feb. 17.
“Turkish Airlines flies to more countries than any other airline in the world, making it easier than ever to travel to some of the world’s most romantic destination from the D.C. area” says Washington, D.C., General Manager Handan Corekci. “This year, we’re showing locals just how simple and affordable it is with our current promotions and at the same time bringing a little bit of romance to the city.”
Established in 1933 with a fleet of only five airplanes, Star Alliance member Turkish Airlines today has a fleet of 207 aircraft (passenger and cargo) flying to 219 destinations.
One of the fastest growing airline companies, Turkish Airlines has received several “Passengers Choice Awards” from the consumer ranking group, Skytrax. Based on 2011 and 2012 results, Turkish Airlines has been chosen as the winner of “Best Airline Europe,” “Best Premium Economy Seats” for its Comfort Class seats – available on New York flights, though not yet Dulles flights – and “Best Airline Southern Europe.”
It has also received awards for its catering and holds a coveted 4-star designation, putting the airline in a small group of top-quality carriers. Turkish Airlines was also given the Skytrax designation of “World’s Best Economy Class On-board Catering” in 2010, and Skyscanner’s “Best On-board Food 2011.” Long-haul Business Class passengers also enjoy the Flying Chef service on board.
As part of its corporate code of ethics, Turkish Airlines specifically prohibits any discrimination toward passengers or employees on the basis of sexual orientation.
