San Antonio passes non-discrimination ordinance

Just two weeks after GetEQUAL Texas, a statewide social justice organization, issued a travel alert critical of San Antonio, Texas, for delaying passage of an LGBT inclusive non-discrimination ordinance, San Antonio’s city council voted 8 to 3 on Thursday to approve just such an ordinance over the objections of conservatives.

In an email shared with supporters, GetEQUAL Texas wrote, “The story behind this victory is inspirational — the opposition came out in force to try everything possible to hand us a defeat. But we won. Through the power of telling our stories, organizing our communities, and standing up for ALL of our community without exceptions, we were able to secure a win in the 7th largest city in the United States!”
