‘God Loves Uganda’ Opens Today

Screen Shot 2013-10-25 at 10.05.21 AM.pngFirst screened locally earlier this year during the DC Black Pride Film Festival, the documentary God Loves Uganda from Oscar-winning director Roger Ross Williams (pictured, right) opens in D.C. today, Oct. 25, at West End Cinema. The film is about the role of the American evangelical movement, particularly conservative Christian missionaries, in the African country’s anti-LGBT mores, including the proposed “Kill The Gays” bill. A reviewer for the Huffington Post called it “the most terrifying film of the year.”

Williams appears for a post-screening Q&A tonight, Oct. 25, at 7:20 p.m., while the LGBT events and advocacy organization Urban+Out hosts a Q&A after the screening Monday, Oct. 28, at 7:20 p.m., and David Kim of Gay and Lesbians in Foreign Affairs Agencies (GLIFAA) hosts a Q&A Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 7:20 p.m.

God Loves Uganda opens today, Oct. 25, at 3 p.m., at West End Cinema, 2301 M St. NW. Tickets are $8.46 to $10.34.  Call 202-419-FILM or visit westendcinema.com.
