— Dale Hansen, sports anchor for ABC affiliate WFAA in Dallas, in a two-minute segment titled “Hansen Unplugged: Celebrating Our Differences.” Hansen focused on recently out college football player Michael Sam, who could become the first openly gay player in the NFL, and the controversy that has surrounded his coming out. Addressing those who have criticized Sam for coming out, and those who have questioned whether gay men should be allowed to play in the NFL, Hansen said, “I’m not always comfortable when a man tells me he’s gay. I don’t understand his world. But I do understand that he’s part of mine.”
