Now that 2005 is finally over, we can decide whether the last twelve months constituted an annus horribulus or an annus mirabilis.
Well, it depends on your perspective. Fans of gay cowboy movies are on cloud nine; closeted gay mayors with a predilection for porn, not so much. The matrimonial minded found new options abroad in Spain and England, but constitutionally slammed doors in more and more states on the home front. Baseball lovers rejoiced at the arrival of the Nationals; fans of a different sort of entertainment lamented the coming loss of a near-historic gay district.
Heck, it’s hard for us to decide whether 2005 was good or bad — and we were paying attention. But here’s our take on some of the highlights and lowlights of the year just past. And while there are some moments we loved, you’ll pardon us for hoping that 2006 might be just a little bit better.
