Robbery at Fireplace
Suspect flees, unsuccessful in attempt
Washington Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Acting Lt. Brett Parson reported an unsuccessful robbery attempt occurred Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the Fireplace, a gay bar at 2161 P St. NW.
According to the MPD report released by Parson, ”Witnesses did pursue the suspect and successfully recovered the stolen property. However, the suspect was able to flee prior to MPD’s arrival. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries to his face.” The victim is an employee of the bar.
MPD described the suspect as a black male with a medium complexion in his 30s, 6 feet tall, 180 to 185 pounds. At the time, he was sporting a small goatee and wearing a green-plaid shirt and blue jeans. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call police at 202-727-9099.
