As summer sadly nears its end, thoughts naturally turn to jousting, feasting, crafts, theater, music and merriment. Ah yes, it’s time once again for Maryland Renaissance Festival, one of the world’s largest festivals recreating a 600-year-old era in jolly old England. Set in a woodsy park outside of Annapolis, Md., patrons are encouraged to dress up in period costume. (They can even rent such duds.) But they shouldn’t bring weapons, real or toy, or pets, as they tend to eat the turkey legs, which in this context are also weapons.
Weekends through Oct. 19. Maryland Renaissance Festival, Crownsville Road, Crownsville, Md. Tickets are $17 to $22 for a single-day adult ticket. Call 800-296-7304 or visit marylandrenaissancefestival.com.
