Steve Orlando, writer of DC’s upcoming comic series “Midnighter,” which centers on the gay superhero, speaking with Comic Book Resources.

Orlando isn’t shying away from Midnighter’s sexuality in the comics — indeed, the character will use Grindr to hookup with another man. Orlando also wants to explore the relationship between Midnighter’s public persona, his private life, and his sexuality. “When we start, he is realizing, he is out of the closet as a gay man, he is out of the closet as a superhero. He has no secret identity. And he needs to find a way to really be a person.”
