— Elton John, in a Instagram post over the weekend, furiously responding to comments made by gay fashion designers (and former couple) Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, condemning in-vitro fertilization (“You are born to a mother and a father — or at least that’s how it should be. I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Rented uterus, semen chosen from a catalog,” Dolce said in the article). The pair also claimed, “we oppose gay adoptions. The only family is the traditional one.”
Gabbana responded to John’s Instagram post by labelling him a “Fascist!”
On Monday, to counter the growing negative publicity (#BoycottDolceGabbana was the top trending hashtag on Twitter for much of the day), Gabbana put forth a statement via Instagram: “We talked about our way of seeing reality, but it was never our intention to judge other people’s choices…. We do believe in freedom and love.”
