–Michael Sam, the first openly gay player to be drafted in the NFL, during a speech at the Dallas Holocaust Museum, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Sam claims that players have reached out to him in the wake of his coming out, which saw him drafted into the St. Louis Rams last year — though he was ultimately dropped from the team.
“I respect the players that did reach out to me and had the courage to tell me that they were also gay,” Sam added. “But they do not have the same courage as I do to come out before I even played a down in the NFL.”
