— Country singer Reba McEntire, in an interview published in PrideSource, an online publication from the publishers of the Michigan-area Between the Lines, explaining why she supports marriage equality. A longtime ally of the LGBT community, McEntire recounts attending her first gay wedding a few months ago, for two friends of hers that have been together for 20 years. “I thought that is was not fair,” she says in the interview, “and I didn’t understand why they couldn’t get married.”
In the interview, McEntire also said that she would be fine with having a gay grandchild, defending comments by her daughter-in-law, Kelly Clarkson, on being the parent of a gay child, and shared her thoughts about a slew of country music performers who have come out of the closet in recent years.
