Mike Huckabee: “Extreme Court” has turned us into Sodom and Gomorrah

Huckabee claims we need to "reject the lost vision of secularism"

Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas governor and Republican candidate for president, has used an Independence Day celebration to spout more of the homophobic nonsense he’s become known for.

“[In] 1975, the wife of evangelist Billy Graham said that ‘if God does not bring his judgment upon this land, He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah,’” Huckabee told the congregants at a Georgia church, Right Wing Watch reports. ““She said that 40 years ago. What would she say today if she was still alive?

“When the Supreme Court just two weeks ago — or as I call them, the Extreme Court — made the most radical decision when it comes to the definition of marriage,” he continued, “it truly was a remarkable day in which they did not vote for equality of something, they voted for the redefinition of something.”

Huckabee concluded by stating that America will “go down the tubes” unless we “reject the lost vision of secularism.”

“We’re not going to stand by and let the Extreme Court completely change the definition of family,” he said.

Huckabee has a long history of anti-gay and anti-equality rhetoric. He has previously compared homosexuality to drinking alcohol and swearing, and likened same-sex marriage to drug users, incest and polygamy. He has also claimed that gay relationships have an “ick factor.

This year, he was denounced as “creepy” by transgender rights groups after telling the National Religious Broadcasters Convention that he would have pretended to be a woman to spy on high school girls in the showers.

He also received an immense amount of criticism from his own supporters after defending Josh Duggar (19 Kids and Counting) after it transpired that the latter had molested his own sisters as a teen.

In the wake of last month’s marriage ruling, he denounced the Supreme Court’s decision, stating: “This flawed, failed decision is an out-of-control act of unconstitutional judicial tyranny.”
