Televangelist Pat Robertson is drawing a line in the sand when it comes to Christians who support LGBT rights.
As first reported by Right Wing Watch, Robertson took to the airwaves on his show The 700 Club on the Christian Broadcasting Network on Monday and responded to a question from a viewer who had attended a church where the pastor was openly gay. The viewer said that he had been brought to the church by a Christian friend, but told the friend that he felt being gay was a sin.
“The Bible is very explicit about that,” Robertson said. “In the Old Testament, it’s called an abomination. It’s an abomination for a man to lie with a man as with a woman, an abomination. The apostle Paul said, ‘No homosexual or adulterer or fornicator is going to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. So there’s no question about it, so to have a church saying it’s not a sin, and it’s okay, they’re leading people down the road to perdition. And it’s a shame, but if I were you, I would stay far away from them, because they’re not — you know, we love the sinner but hate the sin. But nevertheless, it’s a problem.”
Right Wing Watch also notes that Robertson has previously opined that homosexuality is a threat to the Christian faith and is part of a “left-wing agenda to do away with Christian values and to substitute for Christian values the progressive concepts of morality.”
