Washington, D.C. has largely been under pretty strict measures with regards to the coronavirus pandemic. For safety, virtually all nightclubs, concert halls and theaters are closed till further notice. Restaurants are either operating with seating out doors, limited seating indoors, or takeaway orders only. Some attractions below are open for visitors and tours, but many do remain closed to the public or are of limited crowd sizes. So, check all of the places ahead of going to them to see if you need to schedule visitation times. Face masks are mandatory in all public spaces except for outdoor dining or exertion during exercise.

GETTING AROUND THE D.C. METRO REGION
The Washington Metro region provides many convenient ways for people to arrive and move about town. Many of the main attractions are located near one another, making the Nation’s Capital an extremely walkable city. Many other low-cost options are available for getting around faster including three major airports; public transit by subway, bus or train; and easy to grab taxis, carsharing or bikesharing services. There are also “tour bus” style services available.

DC has invested in bicycle safety and convenience by providing a network of reserved bike lanes that cross the city and hook up with a number of bike trails. This has provided a great benefit for many who enjoy the grab-and-go system of bike stations found around the city called, Capital Bikeshare. Pay for 1 day or 3 days using a credit card at any working kiosk, or join for a discounted monthly or annual membership.
Scooters from different national services are available at random locations throughout the city. The companies that run these services have changed significantly over the past few years. So, you’d have to spot a scooter and get the app on your phone to rent one. They are not the most safe devices to use or even the most affordable, but many people will grab one since they tend to be faster than walking. Speed restrictions do exist and it is not legal to ride in on sidewalks in certain downtown areas of the district.
