Tracy Young D.C.'S YOUNG VALENTINE... Last fall, DJ Tracy Young spun in her hometown of Washington for the first time in way too many years, hitting Be Bar. This Saturday, Feb. 14, she'll finally make her debut at Town. The gay circuit's No. 1 female DJ is coming in part to support her latest compilation, Tracy Young Presents Genesis Part 1, released on her own Ferosh label and named after her famed New Year's Day party in Miami, her adopted ... Grammy Awards, Rufus Wainwright, Robyn, Annie Lennox, Lance Bass

GRAMMY GIRLS (AND RUFUS)... Did you hear- Kathy Griffin did, in fact, get her Grammy nomination. You know, the one she was angling for. The one for which she specifically created last year's For Your Consideration. Ain't that cool- She's up against Lewis Black, Flight of the Conchords, Harry Shearer and the late George Carlin for Best Comedy Album. Robyn (Photo by Samantha Rapp) Did you also hear about Rufus Wainwright- His Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall will battle ... [Read]

Madonna, Good Charlotte, Hot Chip

MADONNA'S NEW MARRIAGE... Maybe Madonna will finally come back to D.C. with her next tour, since George W. Bush will no longer be president -- apparently the reason she hasn't stopped here since 2001's Drowned World Tour. Chances will be greater if Barack Obama wins, of course. But for now, the only way to see her eighth worldwide show, the Sticky and Sweet Tour, is to either travel or wait for it on DVD. No word on when that will ... [Read]

Barack Obama, Rachel Panay, The Killers, Depeche Mode, Franz Ferdinand, NYC's Day of the Dead Party

OBAMA POP... The pop stars are coming out loud, proud and in droves for Barack Obama. Of course, that's not really news. It'd be news if anyone you knew and listened to created songs or planned concerts for John McCain. Instead, McCain's camp has taken heat from Heart and Foo Fighters for using their songs at events. Jackson Browne even sued to force the McCain campaign to stop playing his song ''Running on Empty.'' No such bad news for Obama. ... [Read]

Deborah Cox, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Lily Allen

WHO DO U LOVE... Are you ready? One of gay clubland's favorite singers is returning with new material this fall. Well, yes, Whitney Houston may return, if she can get her act together. But that's not who I mean. Same script, different cast: Houston's one-time duet partner Deborah Cox will release The Promise later this fall. Of course, just last year Cox released Destination Moon, her fourth studio album, but no remixes ever surfaced from it. As a high-concept tribute ... [Read]

Rihanna, Katy Perry, Ida Corr, ABBA, Dolly Parton

Rihanna WHAT'S SUMMER WITHOUT RIHANNA?... Another summer has come and gone, and Rihanna once again showed her strength as a summer songstress. But for the first summer in four years, the 20-year-old, Barbados native didn't actually release an album of all-new material. She simply re-released last year's exceptional Good Girl Gone Bad, creating a Reloaded version that included four new tracks. Her initial stab at a Song of Summer 2008 wasn't as strong as her preceding years' tries, either. ''Take ... [Read]

Yoko Ono, Annie Lennox, Fergie, Britney Spears

YOKO ONO'S PEACE DANCE... In a world coming increasingly unmoored, pleas for peace may seem na´ve, but they're also very necessary. Just as she did five years ago in the earliest phase of the Iraq War, Yoko Ono recently released remixes of the anti-war anthem that her former husband John Lennon wrote and popularized, ''Give Peace A Chance.'' This time, however, the occasion is to commemorate the song's 39th anniversary -- and apparently to put things in motion for a ... [Read]

Madonna's birthday, Jody den Broeder, Sarah Brightman, Liu Huan, more

BURNING UP HER BIRTHDAY CAKE... How many times in one year can gay bars celebrate Madonna? In fairness, it's not every year the Sticky and Sweet star releases a new album. And it's not every year she turns 50. That's right, you might not know it from her ''new new face,'' the surgically enhanced visage dissected in last week's New York magazine, but Madonna will be half-century old this Saturday. Where's the party? To paraphrase old (that is, young) Madonna, ... [Read]

Ultra Nate, Cielo, Quentin Harris, Colton Ford, Harry Romero, Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction revisited

Ultra Nate LIKE A ROBOT AT YOUR COMMAND... Ultra NatÚ topped the Billboard Club Play Chart last summer with her fantastic cover of the Pointer Sisters' 1980s hit ''Automatic.'' And yet, you've probably heard it more this summer than you did last. The reason: Six new remixes were released earlier in the season, most significantly the Tikaro, J. Louis & Ferran mix that practically every leading gay club DJ has put in regular rotation, from Abel to Junior Vasquez to ... [Read]

ABBA, Destiny's Child updates on Michelle Williams, Kelly Rowland, LeToya Luckett, Solange Knowles, LaTavia Roberson

ABBA MAMMA MIA, HERE THEY GO AGAIN... Forget The Dark Knight. Oh sure, it's raking it in at the box office, on track to break even more records than simply biggest opening weekend ever. But cut through all the hoopla, and it's just a movie. Meanwhile, the No. 2 film last weekend is having a wider impact. And we don't just mean the excitement that comes from knowing Meryl Streep can do anything and everything, including sing. She can! The ... [Read]
